Equipment

  • French Press, moka pot, or regular coffee pot
  • 2 Tall glasses for iced coffee
  • 2 Coffee mugs for hot brew

Ingredients

  • 10-12 ounces of brewed coffee –preferably dark roast
  • 2 ounces sweetened condensed milk
  • Crushed ice for iced coffee

Instructions

Hot Coffee:

  • Brew coffee to your liking.
  • Pour 1 ounce (about 29.57 ml) of sweetened condensed milk onto each mug.
  • Pour coffee over the condensed milk and stir. Taste and if you want it sweeter, add more milk.
  • Enjoy!

Iced Coffee:

  • Follow Hot Coffee instructions 1-3.
  • Prepare tall glasses by adding crushed ice almost all the way to the top.
  • Pour prepared hot coffee, mixed with condensed milk, over the ice and stir.
  • If you are using cold brew concentrate, simply mix with condensed milk and add ice.
  • Enjoy!

Bonus! Coffee Ice Cream:

  • To make coffee ice cream, you need 1/4 cup of cold brew (or ¾ cup cold strong coffee), a cup of heavy cream, 14 ounces of sweetened condensed milk, and ½ - ¾ cup of toppings of your choice. E.g. dark chocolate chunks, toasted coconut flakes, coffee beans. You can also add an ounce of coffee liquor for extra flavor!
  • Mix thoroughly in a large mixing bowl, move to a freezer-safe container and freeze for a couple of hours or until solid. I used the kitchen aid mixing bowl to make a delicious soft serve. Enjoy!

Notes

Notes:
As far as the type of coffee goes, dark roast coffee is preferable as it perfectly balances the sweetness of the condensed milk.
For iced coffee, cold brew concentrate is great, too. It is easy to make, and you can get several servings from it. Great for when you are rushing but still want a nice cup of coffee to go. Plus, since it makes strong coffee, you can adjust it to your liking.
Also, if you like cold brew foam but do not always have time to make it, the mere addition of condensed milk will give you the most delicious iced coffee ever. To make your own cold brew at home, feel free to checkout this easy Cold Brew recipe.
For a vegan/dairy-free option, sweetened condensed coconut milk is a great alternative to regular condensed milk. It has a very similar texture and will still add that perfect touch of sweetness.
If you are looking for the traditional Vietnamese iced coffee, you can find a Vietnamese coffee filter online such as this one. Also, the most common way to make it is utilizing robusta beans. Fun fact: Vietnamese hot coffee typically includes egg yolk as well!
